Neuromodulators are used to target a wide range of both aesthetic concerns and medical needs.

The most commonly treated areas are marked out above.  Neuromodulators can help to address:

  • Forehead Lines & Creases - the Repeated raising and lowering of the eyebrows, over time results in horizontal lines across the brow, which if left untreated become wrinkles and then permanent creases in the skin.

  • The Brow & Frown lines - caused by the frowning, scowling, squinting, and motions that contract the muscles between and to the sides of the eyes.

  • Crows Feet - lines, wrinkles, or creases caused by smiling, laughing, and other movements that contract the muscle around the outer eye.

  • Bunny Lines - though cute on the small fluffy animals they're named after, they are not quite so cute on our faces.  Such lines can may not be so welcomed on ones own face.

  • Gummy Smile - By gently relaxing the muscles above the mouth that may over-contract and result in a gummy smile, the smile settles into a softer expression.

  • Jaw Line - Some people develop visibly muscular jawlines over time due to the overuse of these muscles in clenching and grinding the teeth.

  • Dimpled Chin - Small dimples can develop, quite randomly, over the chin as a person gets older.  Neuromodulator can help relax those muscles responsible for the dimpling,

The more common medical conditions treated with neuromodulators include migraine and for excessive sweating.

Guide to Neuromodulators

What are they?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin – commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin or Jeuveau – that are used to treat wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet.

How does it work?

A minute amount of the neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the overlying skin. The effects typically last about three months.

What does the procedure involve?

The procedure is quick and takes only a few minute.  The movement and expression of your face will be analyzed, then the muscles and precise locations within them will be identified.  Those sites may be lightly marked.  The sites will then be cleansed & sterilized and a small shallow injection will be administered at each.

How long will it last?

This is an effective means of reversing the visible signs of aging. The results can be seen within four days and last 3-6 months, depending on the individual.

BOTOX

Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin type A, which is a protein that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox is injected into the muscles of the face to temporarily paralyze them and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It is commonly used to treat wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Botox treatment results typically last for about three to four months.

Dysport

Dysport: Dysport is a brand name for botulinum toxin type A, which is similar to Botox. Dysport is injected into the muscles of the face to temporarily paralyze them and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It is commonly used to treat wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Dysport treatment results typically last for about three to four months.

Jouveau

Jeuveau: Jeuveau is a brand name for botulinum toxin type A, which is similar to Botox and Dysport. Jeuveau is injected into the muscles of the face to temporarily paralyze them and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Xeomin

Introduced in the US in 2010, Xeomin has been used successfully in other countries since 2005. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, Xeomin is designed to treat brow wrinkles, crow’s feet, bunny lines, and frown lines. The active ingredient, botulinum toxin, is exactly the same as in Botox and Dysport.  Patients whose cosmetic results with BOTOX® or Dysport® are unsatisfactory may have more success with Xeomin®.
