Dermal Fillers
Target Areas

Dermal fillers are used to target a wide range of aesthetic concerns and augmentation desires.
The most commonly treated areas are marked highlighted above. Dermal fillers can help to address:
-
Eye Troughs: Also known as tear troughs, or under-eye hollows. These are the groove that sits in between the lower eye lid and the cheek. Hollowness is due to a natural loss of volume in this area.
-
Hollow Cheeks: Also known as sunken cheeks is due to loss of volume in the area between your cheekbones and jawbone.
-
Sagging Cheeks: As well as becoming hollow, as the skin loses elasticity, gravity kicks in and we experience sagging cheeks which can extend from the cheek bone to the jaw bone, where jowls may form.
-
Laugh Lines (Nasolabial Folds): The lines from the outer bottom corner of each nostril to the corners of the mouth. These lines are a sign you may have laughed and smiled a lot through life.
-
Marionette Lines: The vertical lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin.
-
Thinning Lips: Some people may have naturally thin lips, and for others they can be a sign of ageing & sun exposure. As you get older the collagen in your lips breaks down leading to loss of volume & wrinkles around the lips.

-
Lip Lines (Smoker’s Lines or Lipstick Lines): The vertical creases running across the lips that are entirely unrelated to either smoking or lipstick.
-
Chin crease (Mental line): For some, the horizonal line marking the transition to the chin is genetic and for others it appears over time due to skin laxity and loss of volume.
-
Aged Hands: Nothing gives away the age of a person more than the hands, or so it has been said. Fortunately dermal fillers are an excellent solution to rejuvenating the hands.

Guide to Dermal Fillers
For more thorough & detailed information, please see our article on Dermal Fillers
What are they?
Dermal fillers are essentially soft tissue fillers that are injected into areas of the face to create a smoother or fuller appearance. By filling out wrinkles they restore a more youthful appearance.
How does it work?
Dermal fillers work by boosting the skin's supply of essential elements such as collagen and hyaluronic acid. We can think of collagen as the skin's infrastructure, with elastin providing elasticity and hyaluronic acid giving the skin natural hydration and volume. As we age our bodies produce less of these and so wrinkles form. Dermal fillers revitalize the skin's supply and thus add/replace lost volume. This instantly diminished the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look.
What does the procedure involve?
Following a thorough consultation, strategic points on your face are identified as appropriate sites for the filler. An injection of filler is evenly distributed under the skin so as to achieve the desired result.
This process takes a few moments per treated area as your medical professional will inject, massage, and evaluate the area being treated.
How long will it last?
From 6 months to several years, depending on the type of filler, the location, and your personal genetics. In general, for the majority of fillers, you should expect the results to last from 6 to 12 months.
